Prayer (salah,salat,mamaz)

"Salah" is an Arabic word its basic meaning is "connection"
As-Salah: "In the Arabic language it means du’aa’ (Invocation),prayer"

Salah (Arabic word ṣalāh or ṣalāt; pl. صلوات ṣalawāt) is the practice of formal worship in Islam. Its importance for Muslims is indicated by its status as one of the five pillars. It is second pillar of Islam.

After first revelation Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) start prayer  but prayer is become binding duty for five time in a day in  the night of Meraaj. This gift from Allah almighty to prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his followers.

Importance of prayer in Islam

Allah almighty tells us importance of salah in Quran near about 700 times. when we die and buried in grave the angles munkr and nakeer will ask there first question from us abut prayer(salah).Below i write some ayaat (verses) from Quran.
1-preclude us from Al-Fahshaa’ (great sins of every kind, unlawful sexual intercourse, etc.) and Al-Munkar (disbelief, polytheism, and every kind of sinful deed, etc.). [see Q:29/45].

2)Allah Is With Those Who Pray
“Oh ye who believe! Seek help with perseverance and prayer: for God is with those who patiently persevere (11:153)

3)Prayer Leads to Taqwa
“This is the Book in which there is no doubt, a guidance for those who have taqwa; who believe in the unseen, and who establish Salah, and spend out of what we have provided for them” (2: 2-3)

4)Prayer Is a Believer’s Deed
“The believers, men and women, are protecting friends of one another; they enjoin good and forbid evil, and they establish Salah, and give Zakah, and obey Allah and His Messenger. Allah will have His Mercy on them, and surely, Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.” (9: 71)

5)Prayer Results in Allah’s Blessings
“So whatever you have been given is but (a passing) enjoyment for this worldly life, but that which is with Allah is better and more lasting for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord. And those who avoid the great sins and lewdness, and when they are angry, they forgive. And those who answer the Call of their Lord, and perform the Salah, and who conduct their affairs by mutual consultation, and who spend of what We have bestowed on them.” (42:36-38)

6)Prayer Reward in Akhirat
“Truly, those who believe and do righteous deeds, and perform Salah, and give Zakah, they will have their reward with their Lord. On them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.” (2:277)

7)Prayers Keep You In Connection With the Almighty
“When have finished performing the Salah, remember Allah standing, sitting, and reclining, but when you are free from danger, perform the Salah. Surely, Salah is enjoined on the believers at
fixed times.” (4:103)

8)Command of Allah to Observe Prayers
“Guard strictly the Salah, especially the middle Salah. And stand before Allah with obedience.” (2:238)

9)Prayers Are A Way To Seek Allah’s Help
“Oh you who believe! Seek help through patience and Salah. Truly, Allah is with those who are patient.” (2:153)

10Prayer Prevents From Satan
“Shaytaan desires only to excite enmity and hatred between you with intoxicants and gambling, and hinder you from the remembrance of Allah, and from Salah. So will you then not abstain
(from these evils)?” (5:91)

11)Prayer Saves from Troubles
“Recite that which has been revealed to you of the Book, and perform Salah. Verily, Salah prevents from lewdness and evils. And indeed, the remembrance of Allah (by you) is greatest. And Allah knows what you do.” (29:45)

12)Only Those Who Pray Can Be Your Good Friends
“Indeed, your protecting friend (Wali) is none other than Allah, His Messenger, and the Believers who establish Salah, and give Zakat, and bow down (in prayer). (5: 55)

 13)Prayer and Women
“And stay in your houses, and do not display yourselves like that of the times of ignorance, and perform Salah, and give Zakah, and obey Allah and His Messenger. Allah wishes only to remove uncleanness from you, Oh people of the House, and to purify you with a thorough purification.” (33:33)

 14)Not Observing Prayer Is a Hypocrite’s Act
“Verily, the hypocrites seek to deceive Allah, but it is He who deceives them; When they stand up for Salah, they stand with laziness, only to be seen by men; and they do not remember Allah but a little.” (4:142)

14)Leaving Prayer Causes Kufr
“(And remain always) turning to Him (only), and be fearful and dutiful towards Him, and perform Salah and be not of those who commit Shirk.” (30: 31)

15)Leaving Prayers Destroys A Nation!
“Then, there came after them a generation who gave up Salah and followed lusts; so they will be thrown in Hell.” ( surah19: ayat 59)

Importance of salah in the light of hadith

The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) has reported that Allah, the Mighty, the Glorious has said: “I have a   pledge  with My servant that if he offers his prayers at their stipulated times, I shall not chastise him and shall lace him in Paradise without any reckoning.”

Kanzul `Ummal, Volume 7, Tradition 19036

Imam As-Sadiq (peace be upon him) has said: “When a person maintains his prayer and offers it at its stipulated time, it ascends in the form of a pure white light and calls out to him:  “You have guarded me, may Allah protect you.”  But if he does not maintain his prayer and does not offer it at its decreed time, it ascends as a dark and gloomy form and says to him:  You have destroyed me, may Allah destroy you.”

Al-Mahajjatul Baidha, Volume 1, Page 340

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his progeny) has said: “The most beloved of deeds in the eyes of Allah are: offering prayers at the  specified  times; (then) goodness and kindness towards parents; (and then) Jihad in the way of Allah.”

4) Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As said that the Prophet mentioned prayer one day saying: “If anyone keeps to it, it will be a light, evidence, and salvation for him on the Day of judjement; but if anyone does not keep to it, it will not be for him light, evidence, or salvation; and on the Day of judjement ,he will be associated with Qarun, Pharaoh, Haman, and Ubayy bin Khalaf(a great enemy of Islam from among the Quraish). (Ahmed,Darimi, and Baihaqi)

5). Abu Hurayra said, “I heard from  the prophet of Allah (PBUH), say, ‘What do you think would happen if there was a river by someone’s door step in which he took bath five times daily? Do you think that any dirt would remain on him?’ They said, ‘Not a scrap of dirt would remain on him.’ He said, ‘That is a metaphor of the five prayers by which Allah wipes out wrong actions.’” [All Agreed upon]

Brothers and sisters!  It is very important for all of us to know the meanings of prayer(salah, salat) exactly what we are reading in prayer (salat)! because some of us (especially the non arab speaking people) just read away and we don't know that what we are saying in our salat to our Allah (God)!and that is one of the main reasons why we can't concentrate  in good order in our prayers!
Once we know what we are saying in our salat then we will feel much more humbleness and concentration in our salat and we can think in our minds that Allah almighty is infront of us. So that's why i've posted the translation of the salat so that all of us can benefit insha Allah! pray for me please!

plz watch this video to know about benefits of prayer

This means: “O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the torment of the Hellfire, from the torment of the grave, from the trials and afflictions of life and death, and from the deception of the False-Christ. O my Lord!
