Who Is Muslim?

Pronunciation: moos-lim (with a strong 's' sound as in 'snake')
Muslim can be defined in the following ways.
1) A person who peacefully submits his or her self to God; a follower of the faith of Islam.
 2) A member of the Nation of Islam.

The first step to Islam is  Shahaadah(Testimony of Faith), and is as follows:
"There is no one worthy of worship except Allaah (God) and Muhammad is the Final Apostle (Messenger) of God.”

In a general sense, anyone who   volitionally  submits to the will of God is a Muslim. Thus, all the prophets preceding Prophet Muhammad, , are considered Muslims.

Anyone should not judge Islam by looking at those individuals who have a Muslim name, but in their actions, they are not living or behaving as Muslims. Muslims are ordinary people like other humans; among them are the good and the bad. They are not   unfailing  creatures and, therefore, make mistakes.
If anyone wants to see a real Muslim then he should look at the life of   Muhammad(P.B.U.H.) and his companions(sahaba).
